There is a Pokestop outside my house.

A week ago I wouldn’t have known what one was, but Pokemon Go seems to have taken off over the weekend. People in ones and twos were striding (or cycling, skateboarding) purposefully around Victoria Park while staring at their phones yesterday. So I downloaded the app to see what the fuss was about, and to be in a position to snipe about it from a position of knowledge, or think critically about players’ interactions with space and place, as some are already doing.

My local Pokestop is a small plaque on a lamppost for the Stoneygate Conservation Area and there is a gym round the corner, outside the Baptist church, and another at the war memorial in Victoria Park. Not that I can use them yet, I’m only on Level 2.
