Fisher Library, the front lawn, and the quadrangle (yes, that is what the middle of winter looks like in Sydney).

There’s lots of movement happening on campus this week. Semester 2 commenced on Monday, and brought with it an influx of undergraduates, postgrad coursework students, and teaching staff back to university grounds. I’m not teaching this semester, so for me, sequestered in our attic PhD office space, the main indicator of the start of semester has been a sudden recalling of many of my library books, presumably by some particularly keen students getting an early start on their research.

Even here in our secluded office there is movement happening though, as people submit their theses and other PhD students arrive to claim their vacated desks. A welcome reminder that my PhD  is indeed a season and not a permanent state.
