Writing this in bed having just returned from the European Association of Archaeologists annual meeting, held this year in Vilnius, Lithuania. Doing the conference rounds has its very own seasonal pattern, with the EAA always being around this time of year. The other big one for me is the SAA (Society for American Archaeology) which is towards the end of March. Vilnius was more tiring than usual as I was looking after an exhibition stand for Newcastle, as well as giving a paper and poster. Especially tired today after going out for an end of conference beer last night and catching up with lots of old archaeology friends! It’s a cliche but those informal meetings really are where all the best ideas happen – can’t wait to get back to the office and work up some of the plans!
