Re-birth, re-use

Today I attended a baptism, a re-birth, a symbolic cleansing.

The church was a Vineyard church, Coastline Vineyard to be precise. Coastline Vineyard do not have their building, prefering to lodge. Their current home is a listed building titled

FIRST CHURCH OF CHRIST SCIENTIST AND SUNDAY SCHOOL INCLUDING LAMP STANDARDS, RAILINGS, AREA WALL, GATE PIERS AND GATES TO NORTH

The building is owned by a language school but on the weekend it becomes an old church reused as a new church. The Baptism was a full emersion, requiring a temporary bath filled from a hose pipe and later emptied into the drain. Those being baptised gave emotional testimonys. There was breakfast, tea, coffee, cake, prayer and music. It was a party, a celebration but one that left little trace as to its meaning for the participants, just some disposable cups and plates in the school bin.

I failed to get a photo of the bapistim and the building. It seemed more important to pay attention to the event than to create a record. Here is one from the party after

Update- I’ve been given permission to use a photo the Church took.
