18 September 2016: Cockroaches

I’m somewhat twitchy writing this. There is a cockroach running round my hotel room. I’m sure he/she has every right to be here too, but at the moment I would quite like the room to myself.

I’m optimistic that if ignore her/him, it might just go away. The sole of my walking boot has also been suggested as an alternative means to getting a peaceful night’s sleep.

This has been the rather unwelcome highlight of my day today. Having returned from site yesterday afternoon, today has just been catching-up on emails and drinking fresh juice and beautifully smooth Tanzanian coffee. And sleeping.

Hmm. The mosquito netting round the bed just fluttered. Tonight is going to be a long night I feel…

This one was found outside my bedroom door a few nights ago. The good archaeologist in me put the key alongside for scale.
